The size of Mobile market in India US $17 Billion a year
The telecom market in India is set to attain a market size of US $80 billion by 2012 from the current US $25Billion.India is the second largest mobile market in the World. India's cell phone market adds eight million subscribers every month. Mobile subscribers in the country are expected to more than double in the next three years, to 500 million the replacement market is close to 55 per cent. A BCG research says that by 2010, India's replacement market will be 70 per cent. Put together, the size of the handsets market is about Rs 70,000 crore (US$17 billion) a year. It is estimated that more than 870 million of India's 1.1 billion population are yet to own a phone. Hence, India, the world's fastest-growing market for mobile phones is the prime target for mobile manufacturers. The retail market for mobile phones, handsets, accessories and airtime — is already over Rs 70,000 crore markets growing at the rate of 15-20%.
