Modern Retail would create 2 million jobs  in the next three years in india

The organised retail segment in India  is estimated  to grow at 40 per cent compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next few years. There are about 300 new malls, 1500 supermarkets and 325 departmental stores being built in the cities

There would be a requirement of more than million retail people in the retail chains in the area of front line sales, supply chain management, visual merchandising and retail management. Modern retail would create up to 2 million direct jobs in the next three years. This growth would also offer local employment opportunities to millions of others. It would generate `first-time' employment and  in addition, more than 50 per cent of the total employees in modern retail would be women.
